  7.     After finishing one book, 1987's The Making of the African
  8. Queen, Katharine Hepburn thought, "This is rather fun," and
  9. decided to have another try. The title of her current work in
  10. progress: Me. After all, the actress explains, "that's what
  11. it's about." To meet a self-imposed August deadline for the
  12. memoirs, which will be published next year, Hepburn, 80, spends
  13. three hours every morning in bed, scribbling away in ink on a
  14. yellow pad. Writing, she finds, even about oneself, is most
  15. enjoyable "when you're good and terrible when you're bad."
